Snowbound in Calgary (Day 12)

Yes, you read that right. We are in Calgary and we're bound in by, yes, snow. 10cm of fresh snow. It's been pretty gloomy and wet since we arrived here on Wednesday. Yesterday, Dan and I ventured downtown on the bus to MEC and it was overcast and pretty chilly. At that point, the weather forecast was for 25cm of snow. But, by the time we were walking back from MEC, it was sunny and warm downtown.

That's until we got to the bus stop. Then it started slushy raining. Then it started to hail. Then it started to rain. Suddenly, it seemed a little more likely that the forecast may come true.

By the time we got back to Dan's brother and sister-in-law's house, it was just raining. Not too bad. But, later in the evening, it started snowing. And not fake-spring snow, but really truly winter snow. And cold.

By the time we got up this morning, there was 10cm of fresh snow on the ground.

Apparently the highway through Banff (our route for the next few days) wasn't in such hot shape. So, we went swimming instead. We packed all seven of us up in the car and went for a swim. Jack (5) was swimming like a fish, Faith (3) was enjoying floating around in her lifejacket and Audrey (1) was flirting with the lifeguard. We had a hoot and the kids were really, really good. But now I'm pooped. Man, kids take a lot of energy!

Tera,
I'll put this idea on your blog as well as emailing it to you because I know if other people know you are so close to where I am (Nelson, BC) and we don't manage to see each other, then people will start getting mad. And virtual snowballs will most certainly be thrown in your general direction, of course taking your velocity and current directional path into consideration (yep, I was a high school physics geek).

So, if there's any way Brian and I can hop into our car, Rusty, and do a small road trip to come and see you on your journey, we'll do it, Hands down, er, hands on the wheel! Please? I'm on my knees now saying, "Please?" and my knees hurt because the ground is so hard so let me get off my knees please.

Love,
Dee

P.S. Jann, can you get in on this for me? Tell Tera she'd be silly to miss out on a small meeting with Dee.
